ABOUT THEIR PROCESSING,THEY ALSO COMPLIAED ABOUT THEIR RECEPTIONIST ABOUT HER ATTITUDE,THEREFORE,HERE,I JUST TELL EVERYONE THE TRUE SITUATION,AND ALSO WANT TO EXPLIAN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THEIR SERVICE AND GIVE SOME SUGGESTION ABOUT IT.
FIRSTLY, THE RECEPTIONIST'S DUET IS JUST NOTES TAKING,AS SHE HAS TO ANSWER MORE THAN 100 PHONE CALLS EACH DAY,AND HAVE TO REPORT IT TO ASSOCIATED PEROSON, SO IT'S A MASSIVE WORKING LOAD FOR HER, AS SOMETIMES, SHE COULD NOT REPORT EVERYONE TO THE PEROSON/LAWER.
SO,IN ORDER TO PREVENT MISSING ANY INFORMATION,EVERYONE SHOULD:
*CHECK YOUR EMAIL EVERYDAY
*CHECK YOUR MAILBOX EVERYDAY
BECAUSE THEY WILL EITHER EMAIL OR MAIL YOU TO INFORM YOU ABOUT YOUR LOGGING PROCESS.

    GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION - UPDATE FEBRUARY 2007

    GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION - UPDATE FEBRUARY 2007

    There are any number of rumours circulating amongst international students regarding proposed changes to the General Skilled Migration Program.

    We recently attended a seminar conducted by Mr Peter Speldewinde, Director of Skilled Migration with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (“DIAC”) who provided an overview of the Australian Government’s policy changes and the likely impact on the Skilled Migration Program.

    We stress that DIAC’s policy provides a guide only as to proposed changes.

    As we have advised you, Australian Immigration Law is frequently changing and until DIAC’s Policy is made law, it should not be relied upon.

    Timing of proposed changes

    While DIAC had intended to implement changes on 1 July 2007, it said to be more likely that changes may be implemented on 1 October 2007. Until further notice we must proceed on the basis that the proposed changes may come into effect on 1 July 2007.

    Our recommendation, as always, is to validly lodge your application for permanent residence at the earliest possible time.  We confirm that if your application is lodged prior to any changes coming into effect, you can expect that your application will be assessed according to the present criteria.

    If you are concerned that your application cannot be lodged prior to 1 July 2007 or 1 October 2007, please contact us.

    Proposed changes

    The following is a brief summary of the changes proposed by DIAC:

    Points test pass mark to remain the same;

    Points under the English language component may be altered as follows:

     applicants who achieve an IELTS test score of at least 7 in each of the four components of the test (speaking, reading, writing and listening) would receive 25 points;

    (b)               applicants who achieve a score of at least 6 in each of the four components of the test would receive 15 points; and

    (c)               applicants who achieve a score of at least 5 in each of the four components of the test would receive 15 points;

    3.                  Changed criteria where an applicant nominates a Migration Occupation in Demand.  Whereas presently applicants receive points simply for nominating a Migration Occupation in Demand, under the proposed changes applicants would only receive points if the applicant has:

    (a)               nominated a Migration Occupation in Demand, has 12 months work experience (presumably in the nominated occupation) and has a job offer (to work in the nominated occupation) – 20 Points; or

    (b)               nominated a Migration Occupation in Demand and has12 months work experience (presumably in the nominated occupation) – 15 Points;

    Overall reduction in the number of skilled migration categories, including the removal of family sponsored skilled migration categories;

    5.                  Removal of the provision to receive 5 bonus points for lodging a capital investment of $100,000.00 with a state / territory treasury department;

    6.                  Introduction of a new 18 month temporary visa, which will provide international students completing courses the opportunity to work on an unrestricted basis in order to gain work experience (or improve their English language ability) and then apply for skilled migration; and

    7.                  Additional points for completing 12 months work experience in the nominated occupation, or for completing professional postgraduate training.

    Again, we stress that the information outlined above regards proposed changes only.  It is possible that all of the above proposals come into effect, or that some or perhaps none of the above proposals eventually take effect.

    We will write to current clients to provide general information regarding any changes to the skilled migration program once firm details of changes are formally announced.

    What should you do?

    You should take all steps possible to ensure that your application for permanent residence is lodged at the earliest possible time to ensure that your application is assessed under the present criteria.

    Post 1 October 2007

    On our review of the proposed changes, and assuming that the changes come into effect on 1 October 2007, we believe that students completing trade qualifications should remain unaffected provided courses are suitably structured, and provided that students undertake a suitable period of work experience while undertaking the course.

    Students undertaking university qualifications and other non-trade courses may be required to obtain 12 months work experience, or complete professional postgraduate training.

    We expect that Accountants, Engineers, IT Professionals and students qualified in other non trade areas would first apply for the 18 month temporary visa in order to obtain the required work experience.

    Conclusion

    We anticipate a strong interest in lodging skilled migration applications prior to 1 October 2007.

    Any students who are not able to apply for skilled migration by 1 October 2007 are advised to place a strong emphasis on English, or to consider undertaking a period of post qualification work experience.
